Mobile network operators are also gearing up for five. After getting permission for trials from the Department of Telecom (DOT), all the companies are conducting trials in different places in India. Geo, Airtel, and Vodafone as well as MTNL have been granted permission for the Five G trials. After the first trial run by Geo in June-July, it claimed to provide internet service at 1 Gbps speed, followed by Airtel with a successful trial with the same speed. Vodafone recently conducted a successful trial in Pune, beating both the companies. Vodafone claims 3.5 Gbps speed. The trials were due to expire in November 2021, but the trials have been extended following discussions between the central government and mobile companies. After the extension, all the companies are trying to extend the trials in different areas.
Vodafone successfully conducted the trial in Pune and Gandhinagar. Vodafone, with the help of Nokia, has successfully conducted trials in rural areas with good speed. They are currently trying to reach as many areas as possible. The company has conducted successful trials in villages in Gujarat with a speed of 1.5 Gbps.
With the help of Nokia, Ericsson, Samsung, these trials are being carried out in different places using modern technology. Along with private companies, MTNL and BSNL will also be participating. Although BSNL has not yet launched 4G services across India, they are looking forward to FiveG. Efforts are being made by the company in that regard. Overall, the picture is that all the companies are gearing up for the Five G, but the process will only get easier as soon as the spectrum auction is over. There is no Clarity About the Price
There has been a lot of discussion between the companies participating in the spectrum auction and the price of the Five G spectrum in TRAI, but the price has not been decided yet. The companies say the rates set by TRAI are unreasonable and unaffordable for any company. Troy is adamant about its demand, so all eyes are on what the rates are.
The general public is also curious about the rates of the Five G service. More and more customers can be connected to the Five G service if the rates are affordable. But there is no clarity yet.
